Celebration

A hymn to joy. In the euphoric mood that characterized 1848, at the end of May Mazzini wrote to Mameli, who, with the success of "Fratelli d'Italia," was recognized as the exponent of Italian national sentiment. "Take that first moment of inspiration... bellicose, popular; an atmosphere of freedom, and send me a hymn that will become the Marseillaise of Italy." These few sentences inspired me to compose Celebration. An essence celebrating the 150th anniversary of Italian unification and embodying the free spirit of the Italian Risorgimento. The explosive richness of the green citrus top notes is a hymn to the joy and patriotic spirit that animated the battles for unification. A grand perfume, extreme and refined, unmistakable in its Italian elegance; an exquisite interpretation of all the scents one might find on a pilgrimage to our magical peninsula. Wildflowers, woods, aromatic shrubs, clean air, the crisp freshness of mountain streams, and the salty scent of the coasts all waft majestically and regal through this marvelous olfactory composition. A subtle blend of Mediterranean ingredients: Calabrian bergamot, Sicilian orange blossom and mandarin, Amalfi Coast lemons, Tremiti Island rosemary, Gargano mint and olive blossom, Portofino verbena and rose, Florentine iris and narcissus, Sardinian myrtle and broom, oakmoss, absinthe, chamomile, and mastic from the Po Valleys, blended with a heart of Calabrian jasmine and a base of Tuscan cypress wood. A final touch of ambergris, the only exception to this aromatic symphony, entirely "Made in Italy."
